Your knowledgeable local guide will guide you through the lava flows from a century-old eruption and tell you about the lives of the people who still live on Sakurajima and local specialties that have been recognized with Guinness World Records. At the end of the tour, you will take a bus to the observation deck closest to the crater for a spectacular view. You will experience the coexistence of humans and nature, living amidst an active volcano that continues to this day.

    Sakurajima Visitor Center

    After watching a 15-minute video, your guide will give you an overview of Sakurajima and the central exhibits.

    Sakurajima Nagisa Footbath Park

    At Nagisa Park, adjacent to the visitor center, you can soak your feet in the hot springs blessed by the volcano and enjoy the magnificent scenery.

    Yunohira Observatory

    Your guide will take you to the highest point on the Sakurajima Island View Bus, where you will see the northern peak and the rugged mountainside right before your eyes.

    Karasushima Observatory

    An observation deck with a panoramic view of Sakurajima and Kinko Bay. Over 100 years ago, this was a small island called Karasujima, located 500 meters offshore from Sakurajima. It was buried under lava during the Taisho eruption in 1914 and is now part of Sakurajima. Looking at the lava field that stretches out before you, you can experience the terror of an explosion.
