SHIKISHI-ART Crane is an art workshop where participants draw cranes using Sakurajima's volcanic ash on traditional Japanese shikishi paper. Shikishi is a special paper that has long been used in Japan for calligraphy, poetry, and celebratory gifts, and participants will have the unique experience of drawing pictures on it using volcanic ash.

Volcanic ash is proof that Sakurajima is still alive, spewing smoke. The fine particles bring out the soft feathers of the crane and the grace of its standing posture with unique shadows.
