[A blissful cup brewed in the tradition of Satsuma. Ibusuki Chotaro Ware Tobi Cinnabar Wine Cup]
The prestigious Ibusuki Chotaro Pottery is descended from a garden ware painter of the Shimazu clan, the feudal lords of the Satsuma domain. Over 120 years after the kiln was first opened, this wine cup with a dignified appearance was infused with the techniques passed down to the third generation Chotaro's third son, Reiseki Ariyama.
Its greatest charm is the vivid red apple-like pattern that stands out against the soft, off-white surface. This is called "tobishinsha," a rare beauty that can only be achieved by adjusting the temperature and reduction during firing.
The goblet-shaped cup with a high base is perfect for enjoying not only wine, but also cold sake and tea. Enjoy a quality time in a cup that embodies the history of Satsuma and the spirit of its artisans.
