Ibusuki Chotaro Ware hts origins in a garden ware painter from the Shimazu clan, the feudal lords of the Satsuma domain. Using the traditional black Satsuma techniques, the potter, Ariyama Reiseki, paints a mysterious "night sea" illuminated by moonlight.
