Kodama Museum of Art

An Art Museum Surrounded by Nature, Where You Can Enjoy Forest Bathing

The Kodama Art Museum opened in 1985 as Kagoshima City's first private art museum, with the slogan, "An art museum in the greenery, conversing with trees and masterpieces."
A small stream flows through the grounds, and visitors can enjoy the seasonal plants. It is a museum where both children and adults can feel their minds and bodies healed.
Within the museum, surrounded by abundant nature, we collect and display paintings by local artists such as Kinoshita Ebihara, Reizo Otake, and Michio Yamashita, as well as old Kagoshima pottery, contemporary pottery, and folk pottery, with a focus on works by Kanjiro Kawai and avant-garde pottery by Osamu Suzuki.
